So there are actually people in this world who have windows mobile devices, but have decided to stay strong with the Cupertino camp when it comes to their computers. There has been Missing Sync software and the process of initially syncing our Windows Mobile Devices with the Mac has been a questionable task. Since there is not much support in this department I decided to see exactly why so many people were having problems with software which seems pretty self explanatory based on the website.
For the experiment I used a HTC Touch and a new Macbook to initiate the syncing process. After purchasing Missing Sync from http://www.markspace.com/missingsync_windowsmobile.php I went ahead and tried to get a bluetooth connection up and running. After pairing the phone to the computer and attempting to use Missing sync I quickly decided an different route and broke for the USB cable. The USB cable was a success.
In order to avoid a series of errors and failed syncing, the solution was clear. In order for USB syncing to work between the Mac and the HTC TOUCH advanced network functionality on the device must be DISABLED.
Step 1. Install Missing Sync
Step 2. On your Windows Mobile Phone click Start > Settings > Connections > USB to PC icon > uncheck “enable advanced network functionality
I really wish the product provided more support, but I understand why there have been so many people posting to forums about their inability to sync their Windows Mobile device to their Mac. I hope this helps at least a few unlucky souls out there on the net.
