Good things come to those who wait. Well according to WMexperts.com those good things will be coming to HTC Mogul owners over at the Sprint camp immediately via a leaked HTC Mogul ROM. The ROM comes equipped with A-GPS and the hopefully promising EVDO Rev A update. Currently the HTC Mogul by Sprint supports the carrier’s EVDO Rev 0 offerings which do an excellent job of providing 400 to 700kbps download speeds. The big improvement in EVDO Rev A will be the upload speeds which should hit speeds close to the current EVDO Rev 0 download speeds of 400 to 700kbps. In my own experiences with the current HTC Mogul and EVDO Rev 0 I have hit speed tests upwards of 1200kbps on speed-tests such as http://www.dslreports.com/mspeed *run the test on 100k, then choose the option for a larger file and choose the 1MB option*.

The details on the ROM are that the MSID number is necessary. If you are not sure what the MSID is then you probably have not had the pleasure of using Sprint’s customer care to activate a new phone recently. When you activate a phone the customer service representative will give you a ## key sequence to type into your device which allows you to enter the programming screen. They will provide you with two phone numbers to enter into the fields: MSID, MSN. This information is required in order to load the current ROM.

If you have never installed a custom ROM to your Windows Mobile device it is probably best to wait for the official installer to be issued to the Sprint website or HTC America website. With the recent failure of the 2.09 ROM on the HTC America website I would recommend holding out until the ROM is officially on Sprint’s website.
