Nokia has cornered the market on innovation when it comes to the all-in-one device. From the E Series Communicators to the N series multimedia computers, there doesn’t seem to be an end to the features Nokia finds ways to pack on their devices. The features only magnify themselves when software developers decide to use your new device to implement the smallest next generation text to speech application. The Nokia N82 will be the ideal candidate for K-NFB (Kurzweil-National Federation of the Blind) Reading Technology’s text to speech program.

Typically we think of text to speech simply benefiting the deaf, but K-NFB has taken their technology to a higher level to incorporate visual text to speech by means of the powerful Nokia N82. Not that it would be necessarily easy for a blind person to snap pictures of items they would like more information on is besides the point. With the snap of camera and some impressive image processing technology the Nokia N82 will be able to decipher text from the images captured on your phone and recite the information aloud. It is pretty amazing what you can do with a 5 mega-pixel camera on a phone now isn’t it?
