In the world of wireless carriers it is always and will always be a cut-throat market. Sometimes you need to give a little to get the subscribers to play ball in your court and this is exactly what Helio has done. Effective now, the current Helio Unlimited Plan has dropped to a flat $99/mo fee which gives you unlimited usage: voice, data, sms/mms. No more counting minutes or worrying about being on the phone all day with your US long distance girlfriend.
The move is welcomed, but we would really like to see more handsets being announced by Helio; specifically some QWERTY devices to make use of the instant messaging and email on their network. For comparison purposes I have compiled the current list of unlimited plans other than Helio with plan and pricing details:
Boost Mobile Unlimited Plan
$65/mo Unlimited Talk, Text, Web from your home calling area (if you plan on traveling and using this service, think again)
MetroPCS Unlimited Plan
$50/mo Unlimited Talk, Text, Web with extended coverage
Sprint Unlimited Plans
120/mo, which includes unlimited voice, text and data use OR $150/mo with all those services plus unlimited PC data card access
Of course there are a few other services out there as well as Tmobile Hotspot @home service, but overall the Helio plan is not looking so bad at this moment in time. If I was left with the choice between BoostMobile, MetroPCs or Helio service I would go with Helio.
