Verizon today announced plans for its first Mobile Producer in Residence program. The first on the block to be named a Mobile Producer will be none other than the world famous Timbaland. Through the power of Verizon’s V CAST service Timbaland will launch and entire mobile album over the course of the coming year which will be available directly and exclusively to Verizon Wireless V Cast subscribers. Verizon is not planning on limiting the availability of those mobile album with simply V CAST when they have the power of Touch on America’s Most Reliable Network (LG Voyager). You can go ahead and add V CAST Video and Verizon Surround to the additional platforms that will have access to Timbaland’s Mobile Album as it becomes available throughout 2008. Now the bigger question is whether Verizon plans on dropping some hot new phones (besides the Touch) with exclusive agreements. With Mobile World Congress 2008 this week it will be interesting to hear news about LTE standards and possibly a statement by Verizon announcing further commitment to make LTE a reality here in the US.
