We all love our Sidekicks here at Cellfanatic and that is why we took a personal interest in finding out the details behind the recent Press Release by Danger regarding the Microsoft acquisition of their company. Initially our hearts sank to our stomachs with the idea of ruining one of the easiest and most user friendly operating system with the plethora of problems surrounding Windows Mobile. The problems we are referring to are in regards to the complexity of the operating system when it comes to the average user being able to complete simple tasks such as making a phone call or changing the volume on their phone; while we take this for granted, maybe mobile users have a difficult time using Windows Mobile. The big question still remaining is whether or not the Sidekick LX will be the last great Sidekick of our time or whether Microsoft will adapt the intuitive design of the Danger OS towards improving Windows Mobile. I will hope and pray for the second of these two choices as I plan on owning several more Sidekicks down the road and while the features never really amaze, the Sidekick keyboard and interface will always be timeless.

Just because Microsoft bought out Danger, it doesn’t mean they’ll combine the operating systems –
The Sidekick and Windows Mobile are two totally different systems and marketed to two totally different people.
If they start making Windows Mobile look like a teeny bopper sidekick I’ll be going back to my BlackBerry in a heart beat.
