yup, had the same issue and the reboot mixed with plugging and unplugging my headset into the jack and making sure it was clean did the trick. thanks for the feedback y’all!! :bean

My phone did the samething, I fixed by connecting it to my speaker dock and playing for a little bit. When I removed the problem was fixed.

I had the same problem, and tried all options above. It worked after I used a new set of headphones I had not used, pluged them in and out and it worked.

I had tris problem for a long time, but I found the way to repait it. Not an OS problem.
I strongly F#@Ked the phone with the headphone, and now it’s working fine.

i tried everything…compressed air is the way to go. use an air compresser it works like a dream!

Any time I put the headphones in the iPhone starts the iPod playing. Headphone jack in and out doesn’t work. Resetting doesn’t work. If it wasn’t for the apps, this’d be a paperweight…..

I agree with Awllimd completely. I have an iphone 2g that worked fine until the 3.0 upgrade. After the upgrade when syncing, charging, or playing games on my phone it gets very hot and ultimately stuck in ringer/headphone mode. Prior to the upgrade I never had this problem. I think this is a software problem and Apple rushed to release the upgrade without checking for bugs.

I tried the unplug, replug method and it didn’t work. When I went into the iPod app I realized it was still in play mode. I cancelled out of play mode and then went back to the home screen and unplugged the headphones and it worked. I am finally out of headphone mode!! So, for those of you still having problems turn off or stop any applications that might assume you are using headphones or in which you were using headphones last time you used them.
