Sony XPERIA X1: White Paper detail panels, media sharing and more

Sure, the Google Dream phone is the talk of the town, but for those who love Sony Ericsson there is the XPERIA X1.  Today, the official White Paper was release here: http://developer.sonyericsson.com/getDocument.do?docId=100340

The White Paper details the XPERIA panels, the Media Sharing capabilities, Browser details, Email, Java and frequency support (3G).  Below is a summary of the document findings and some very interesting information you must know if you are one of the many anxiously anticipating the Sony XPERIA X1:

  1. Pre-loaded XPERIA panels: news, weather, finance, world clock and app shortcuts. Media Experience Panel - multimedia consumption and navigation. Slideshow panel - slideshow of recent videos and pictures. Microsoft Today Panel - standard Windows Mobile Today Screen. 3D Fish Panel - Aquarium with 3D fishes. Custom Panels - user customized
  2. Media Sharing - allows media sharing via ActiveSync or Wifi
  3. Video Recording: MPEG4 - 30fps @ VGA, H.263 - 30 fps @ VGA (US Model only 24fps), H.264 - 15 fps @ VGA (not supported in US Model)
  4. Browser: Internet Explorer of course.
  5. Location services: Google Maps is pre-installed by default for your real time traffic, driving directions, POI (points of interest) and GPS positioning
  6. Email: Exchange Direct push built-in, Setup Wizard includes Gmail, Yahoo, Live Hotmail.  POP3 configured automatically
  7. Java ME pre-installed
  8. MicroSD support - SDHC compatible (up to 32GB)

One very important piece of information is that the 1700Mhz support is missing from the documentation.  With the Las Vegas trade-show approaching, we can expect plenty more details on the XPERIA X1 to emerge and more specific details to the US edition.  This device is definitely setting up to be an impressive piece of hardware and it could make the Google Dream phone and Apple iPhone a faint memory for some.

Go ahead and download the XPERIA X1 White Paper direct from Sony Ericsson
