The Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 has now officially been confirmed to sport Windows Mobile 6.1 after some confusion and cover-up at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona earlier this year.  Initially Sony Ericsson denied that the XPERIA X1 was running Windows Mobile 6.1, but with the CTIA convention going on in Vegas they decided to come clean and make the news official.  Clearly, the announcement by Microsoft for Windows Mobile 6.1 and Internet Explorer Mobile 6 had something to do with Sony Ericsson confirming the news.  Although Windows Mobile 6.1 on the XPERIA X1 is excellent news, the expected release date remains the same.  The Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 is still on target for a second half 2008 launch so remain patient and start saving paychecks to purchase this beautiful device.
