Motorola came to CTIA with a mission this year by launching 2 new handsets and 2 component products; MOTO Z9, MOTO V950, Motorola H690 Bluetooth headset and MOTOROKR EQ3 Foldable Speakers. As we have reported previously, the 3G HSDPA MOTO Z9 will be offered exclusively through AT&T, the nations number one carrier. The Z9 is being marketed as the “feature-rich experience in style” with a sleek, slider design and features such as Motorola CrystalTalkâ˘, an Opera 8 browser for surfing the Web at lightning-fast speeds, AT&T Video Share and AT&T Navigator. Next on the list of CTIA announcements is the MOTO V950 which will be offered exclusively through Sprint, the number 3 US carrier. The V950 will support Sprint’s QChat and push-to-talk (PTT) services while bringing a high-performing, rugged device to the carrier’s lineup. The inclusion of QChat is the big bonus with the V950 as the service has seen very little press since it’s initial announcement and we hope to get a test unit to rate the service in the coming weeks.
The next two announcements by Motorola are both component products: The Motorola H690 Bluetooth Headset and the MOTOROKR EQ3 Compact Foldable Speakers. The H690 brings a few innovations to bluetooth headsets with dual microphone noise reduction and echo cancellation technology, TrueComfort ear bud design, voice dialing and EasyPair technology to connect to more than 200 compatible Bluetooth-enabled devices. The MOTOROKR EQ3 compact fold-able speakers are designed to turn your mobile music device into a full stereo experience. The EQ3’s are compact, pocket-sized, lightweight and powered by four AAA batteries (included). They sport a universal 3.5mm jack in the speaker and come equipped with an extension cable optimized for FM radio to ensure clear reception when connected to radio-ready devices.
Overall these are 4 solid offerings from Motorola and we are excited to see that they are taking their mobile device launches seriously. With the recent split between their mobile device department and the rest of the company, bringing a solid set of announcements to CTIA Las Vegas was a requirement and while we are still waiting for their next industry changing handset, we are pleased with these offerings.
