Sprint Visual Voicemail for Samsung Instinct, more phones next?

by Nick Marshall on April 7, 2008 · 0 comments

The details regarding the Visual Voicemail capabilities of the Samsung Instinct (Sprint’s iPhone killer, SCH-800) are now public domain.  Apparently Sprint went directly to the source when it came to taking the iPhone head-on.  If you recall Klausner Technologies is the company with claims to have patents for Visual Voicemail and filed lawsuits against AT&T back in December 2007 and March 2008. Sprint has signed a license agreement with Klausner in order to bring Visual Voicemail to the Samsung Instinct.  With over 100 million dollar dedicated to the marketing efforts of the Samsung Instinct, Sprint has gone all out by working directly with Samsung to tailor a custom Operating System, including Threaded SMS, Sprint Navigation Support and of course, real Visual Voicemail.

Sprint’s iPhone: Samsung Instinct SCH-M800 Full Details Emerge

The big question now is whether the slashed iPhone pricing in Germany by T-Mobile and the eminent launch of a 3G iPhone will soften the launch of Sprint’s wonder phone.  In the meantime, we begin to speculate whether Sprint will license Klausner’s Visual Voicemail for all of the handsets in their lineup.  By bringing Visual Voicemail to their entire lineup they would truley take wireless to the next level and quite possibly pull many customers away from AT&T.
