Samsung’s first HSUPA SCH-M470 hits S Korea

by Nick Marshall

South Korea will be the first to get their hands on the HSUPA (high-speed uplink packet access) equipped Samsung SCH-M470.  The SCH-M470 is a slider phone packing a 2 megapixel camera, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, but the real gem in this device is that it supports HSUPA.  If you are tired of uploading files at a measly 384kbps, welcome the full 2Mbps uplink thanks to HSUPA.  Not only is the upload speed being increased, but the SCH-M470 also supports HSDPA downloads at up to 7.2Mbps.

Up until now all the devices released by Samsung only supported HSDPA (high-speed downlink packet access) which provides the capability of downloading at up to 3.6Mbps and none supported HSUPA.  If you have a need for speed and are lucky enough to live in South Korea you will be able to get your hands on the SCH-M470 today at a cost of $615 USD or 600,000 won.
