I Want My Fring iPhone Voip: Launch

Comments

Within the next 24 hours we can expect Fring to launch an iPhone version of their VOIP/Chat service.  The Israeli start-up has proven that Fring is a fully capable piece of software, but the big question with an iPhone launch is whether users will jailbreak their devices to enjoy VOIP calling.  With the EDGE data network capping out at a measly 200kbps in prime conditions, Fring will be limited to Wi-Fi coverage areas for the iPhone.  Combine the Wi-Fi requirement with jailbreaking and there might be a Fring problem shortly after the software is released.

I Want My Fring iPhone Voip: Launch

With many developers using the iPhone SDK to release legit applications later this summer, the gray area of unsupported and heavily used 3rd party iPhone software has become an area for debate.  Developers are hoping not to be banned from Apple’s official application list which would hurt their software revenue once their products are available to the iTunes catalogue.  In this case, Fring is going out on a limb and risking some serious coin in hopes of stealing away early adopters willing to jailbreak their iPhone.

If you are going to take the plunge because VOIP calling is a real necessity then we recommend sticking to ZiPhone for all your jailbreak needs.  The software is painless and is capable of unlocking (any GSM carrier) and jailbreaking (install any 3rd party software) within 10 minutes of launching the software on all versions including the iPhone 1.4 OS.  While you wait for Fring’s iPhone application to launch in the next 24 hours, go ahead and make yourself comfortable and jailbreak your iPhone with ZiPhone.

Download ZiPhone (just click the windows or mac installer and follow the instructions, simple)
