Being the number 4 US Carrier is tough to swallow when your German roots dominate much of Europe with 3G glory. Thankfully T-Mobile USA has been able to cope with the disappointments dished out by FCC dilemmas on their 1700Mhz 3G network launch and the time has come for broadband mobile data here in the states. The first location that will receive a piece of T-Mobile 3G network love is New York City and the date is set for May 2008. UMTS-powered T-Mobile 3G availability will continue quickly across the country after NYC’s launch with 24 additional US cities making the ranks by the end of June 2008

With a US Spec Motorola Z10 and 3G network speeds, T-Mobile USA has a bright future in 2008. The good news does not stop with a 3G network launch in NYC this May, Sony Ericsson devices will also be making a return to T-Mobile’s offerings. The Sony Ericsson Bella (2 megapixel flip with aGPS and 3G support) and the SE W760 (3.2 megapixel slider) will see a release in October or November of 2008. Motorola will follow suit with the release of the Z5w and ROKR E8 as well, but neither device currently supports T-Mobile’s 3G network. Add in some Windows Mobile 6.1 updates to T-Mobile’s lineup and you can count us in for some 1700 UMTS T-Mobile 3G action.
