With the ups and downs of Vista, the little guy (Windows XP) has fallen off the map when it comes to press releases and Apple commercials. In times like these it is great to see that Microsoft still believes in updating Windows XP with Service Pack 3 launching April 29. Service Pack 3 brings all of the previously released XP updates (security updates/hotfixes) and a small number of OS enhancements. Some of the big improvements that we are waiting for will finally be addressed with the new service pack including product key-free installation, enhanced control panel security options and network policy enforcements similar to Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008.

What you will not find in Windows XP SP3 is improved system performance, but with lower system requirements and less visual affects than Windows Vista I am not complaining. While we wait for Service Pack 3 to go live, it would be a good time to make sure everyone has their Automatic Updates enabled otherwise a nice 580MB download will be in your future (Microsoft Download Center SP3 Package).
