Alltel Brings EV-DO Rev A to HTC Touch

by Nick Marshall

alltel wireless htc touch evdo rev a update

Sprint recently released an updated ROM which brought EV-DO Rev A and GPS capabilities to the HTC Mogul. The device that was also expected to be updated to Rev A and GPS was the HTC Touch, but it looks like Alltel Wireless beat them to the punch. Today Alltel Wireless released a ROM update for their own HTC Touch which brings EV-DO Rev A support, but no GPS. In a very uncharacteristic move for a company that is known for not disabling features on their handsets, we have been left wondering why they released a ROM update that only addresses one of the two original features in the device.

While GPS support has not been enabled in this ROM update, a number of stability improvements and connectivity improvements have been made. Specifically, the Bluetooth stack has been upgraded so that it is actually possible to pair the HTC Touch without hassle (a much needed fix). You can pickup the new ROM for your Alltel Wireless HTC Touch below.
