The HSDPA equipped Sony Ericsson G502 became official today after previously being code-named ‘Emelie’. With a 2-inch TFT QVGA display packing 262k colors and a 2 mega-pixel camera, the G502 fits right in with other mid-range phones. The big disappointment here is the lack of UIQ since Sony Ericsson felt that the A2 software platform was sufficient. As far as the size of the device goes you are looking at 109 x 46 x 13.5 mm and 83.5 grams which isn’t going to win any design contests, but it should keep the business and youth segments satisfied.

For the business users, MS Exchange Activesync support is standard as well as built-in Google Maps for Mobile to take care of any traveling arrangements. Now that the Internet has shifted towards Web 2.0, a built-in Access NetFront web browser and RSS feed support are also standard commodities. There are two color choices as you can see from the picture above: Brilliant Hazel and Champagne Black.
The bottom line is that most users will find the G502 to be very similar to the K660 and ultimately another handset launched by Sony Ericsson to kill time while the XPERIA X1 finalizes a launch date.
