Verizon Wireless played a little trick on us when they released the Lg Voyager and we all assumed that it was the follow up to the very successful lg env. Unfortunately, this was not the case and a lg env2 really did exist and today it became a reality. With a 2 mega-pixel camera and re-designed front display, the lg env2 (vx9100) is set to challenge both the helio ocean and the t-mobile sidekick. The lg env2 brings bluetooth 2.0 to the table and the same microSD slot found on the original lg env, but the smooth feature here is the text-to-speech which is also found on the lg voyager. There are two color choices with the lg env2, either maroon or black, but the best selling point with any device is always the price. You can pick up the lg env2 (vx9100), today from your local Verizon Wireless store for $129.99 on a 2 year contract after a mail-in rebate.

Here are the full specs for the lg env2 (vx9100)
- CDMA 800/1900MHz
- 1xRTT/EV-DO (no Rev A here folks)
- 101.6mm x 53mm x 17.8 mm (4″ x 2.1″ x .7″)
- 119g (4.2 oz)
- 21.5 day standby time, 5 hour talk time
- 2.4″ color TFT display
- 2.0 mega-pixel camera
- MMS/SMS/IM, Video Recording and Playback
- POP/IMAP/SMTP email protocol support
- microSD slot (SDHC support), Text-to-speech, Speakerphone
Below is a size comparison chart to give you an idea of how the the lg env2 compares in size to the Apple iPhone, Helio Ocean and Sidekick LX. As you can see from the picture, the env2 is the smallest of the 3 devices, and thinner than the t-mobile Sidekick LX. We will reserve judgement for our verdict on the lg env2 until we receive a review unit, but our initial feeling is that we will continue to despise the keyboard which places the space bars at the end of the bottom row of keys (maybe we are too old school).

LG enV2 as a Messenger
This is the primary reason why someone would be interested in the LG enV2 in the first place. While the outward appearance of the closed phone has taken quantum fashion leaps in the right direction, the inside remains largely unchanged. The menu navigation has been cleaned up a little, but it’s still what you’d expect from a Verizon Wireless phone.
