Name changes are a dime a dozen when it comes to carrier subsidized launches, and RIM’s latest line up of Blackberry devices will be no different. Word on the street is that RIM will be giving the BlackBerry 9000 Series an official name at Tuesday’s announcement. The Tuesday announcement we are referring to is the scheduled launch of the BlackBerry 9000 Series by RIM’s CEO, Mike Lazaridis at Wireless Enterprise Symposium.
So with the date set for the announcement, RIM has decided to give the 9000 Series the official name: Bold. The BlackBerry Bold will join the Curve, Pearl and 8800 Series with the rolling navigation ball, but this time it will be the first 3G HSDPA capable BlackBerry to date. You can expect the device to be referred to as the BlackBerry Bold 9000 from here on out as different variations will be launching on GSM carriers worldwide in the form of 9XXX. Any doubts regarding the 9000 Series should be settled in a couple of days and as usual we will keep you posted.
