Sure we can expect to see Windows Mobile 6.1 updates hit a number of carriers here in the States, but this news is for our friends using the Orange Network with TyTN II’s (HTC Kaiser). Orange will be rolling out a Windows Mobile 6.1 Update for TyTN II users this month (mid-May) so we can expect to see the updates available for download sometime this week.
We will keep you posted on usual as we countdown for the Windows Mobile 6.1 Update to go live on Orange’s website, but for those of you who must be the first on the block to sport WM 6.1, you can head on over to the TyTN II support section on Orange’s website. Just hit the link below periodically or we will let you know when the update goes live.

Let’s hope that the latest Windows Mobile 6.1 Updates can be useful for XDA Developers and PPC Geeks for some improved Cooked ROMs later this month for our At&t tilt (Htc Kaiser).

Still no update, contacted orange today and all their customer service advisors are clueless and just keep telling me that they dont release updates and to go to htc

Nearly the end of June and still no update.
Ash in answer to your problems..you probably in contact with the standard user customer support and not the business support centre…the standard user support centre are useless and don’t have a clue. I wouldn’t even bother trying to go to HTC either as they tell you that since you phone is a carrier branded device they will not supply upgrades.
Keep checking the Orange Business site link above as an update will be published there sooner or later…but knowing Orange it will be much later after they add in all of their so called “Security Features” that make the device so restrictive and useless.

Where is the Orange Tytn2 Windows Mobile Professional 6.1 update ?
Please - Anyone working for Orange, could you please shed some light on this situation.
I’ve just purchased a Tytn2 from Orange but its been delivered with Windows Mobile 6.0 on it !
From what I’ve read on numerous sites an update was due last month but so far the update has’nt arrived. I’ve tried to obtain the patch from HTC directly but Orange have a golden handshake with HTC whereby HTC will not release the update to an Orange signed device. HTC redirect you back to Orange saying that “your provider will give you an update”. I don’t want to do an unofficial update on the device as this will invalidate any warranty (according to Orange support).

Unfortunately it is currently in a game of cat and mouse between HTC and Orange. Essentially most people have just gone ahead and loaded a Windows Mobile 6.1 ROM from xda-developers.com in the meantime since updates from HTC can be delayed extensively. In the US, Sprint had a ROM update coming to the HTC Titan and HTC Vogue that ended up releasing half a year late so we have had to learn to deal with it here.
If you want to run Windows Mobile 6.1 — you can choose from the many Custom ROMs here and then upgrade to the official Orange WM 6.1 ROM

Orange Business Account Managers can get you the update if you ask, and are a business customer.
