Nokia N95-3 Firmware Update June 2008
When you spend $600 on a cell phone, your expectations are always going to exceed the capacity of the manufacturers. Â This is exactly the case for the North American N95 (N95-3) which is finally receiving an overly due firmware update next month. Â Vandelay, an administrator over on the official Nokia Discussion Boards has stated that he received official word from the Nokia Software Update team that the North American N95 (N95-3) would be receiving a firmware update in June 2008.
Â
Nokia N95 US version (also known as N95-3)
Nokia is aware of consumers’ demand for a new software release, and our development teams are working to produce the new software as soon as possible. We estimate that the new software should be available early June. Please note that your mobile service provider, operator, or carrier may not have approved the latest Nokia device firmware available. Nokia produces many different variants of each product (for different countries and languages) and not all variants will have the latest Nokia device firmware. It is our priority to update all variants as quickly as possible, and we apologize for any delay.
Â
So the firmware update is now confirmed, but what exactly will this update do for our Nokia N95-3s? Â Although there have been no official details issued by Nokia, we can look at the other N95’s as a guide and predict that Flash Lite 3 support will be included, Demand Paging and of course Web Runtime Support (Widgets). Â The two features still up for grabs with this update are User Data Preservation (UDP) and built-in Geotagging for photos. Â With a little less than 5 weeks away I am sure we can expect the final details for the firmware update to hit the Internet for the Nokia N95-3 US Edition.
