You remember the upcoming Sidekicks (Sidekick 5) the Gekko and Aspen, right?  Well in case it slipped your mind, T-mobile will be launching a new set of Sidekicks this year to replace the Sidekick LX which we have grown to love since it’s launch back in October.  Much like the previous Sidekick’s the FCC documents label the Sidekick 5’s, Gekko and Aspen, under the model number PV210.  While the FCC details are very limited at this point, most likely due to a disclosure policy similar to Apple’s iPhone, the details do describe the frequencies supported on the device.  Unfortunately there is no 3g 1700MHz band present on this Sidekick and once again we will be seeing an EDGE based Sidekick hit T-mobile sales channels this year.

The 3g Sidekick will remain a legend, while the Sidekick’s screen and keyboard will continue to refined with this next iteration in the Sidekick lineup.  On a positive side, neither Sharp nor T-mobile have announced the device exists, but a FCC clearing usually means the device will launch in a month or two so you can expect the Sidekick 5 (Gekko/Aspen) to launch as scheduled in July 2008.  If we hear any more news about the next Sidekick coming to T-mobile we will be the first to let you know.
