T-mobile beats North Korea to 3g launch?

In a Communist regime, North Korea has been locked-down extensively and as a result it has become one of the last countries in the world to complete a 3g network roll out.  Here in the United States we have T-mobile who is just launching parts of their 3g data network and at launch only offered voice over a 3g connection.  While the world waits for both countries to complete their 3g networks, North Korea’s viable cellular network, Orascom has announced that they’ve completed the first call on North Korea’s 3g network.  It looks like T-mobile will actually beat someone to a 3g network launch, it is just sad that it will not be a US carrier and we have to look to the other side of the globe to find a competitor for last in line.  As far as the North Korean 3g network launch, CHEO Technology has been awarded a 25-year exclusive contract to provide the 3g network.  The interesting thing about CHEO Technology is that Orascom has a 75% stake in the company, and undoubtedly found themselves a way to work into the deal of a lifetime.
