The exchange rate between Europe and the US never seemed to hurt a gadget geek as much as today with the price announcement for the Nokia N96. Today, the launch date for the Nokia N96 became official with July 31, 2008 as D-day and a hefty £599.99 price tag. In case you are a little behind on the exchange rates, £599.99 is nearly $1200 USD and at that type of a price tag you can expect many would-be N96 owners to reconsider. With the current NAM N95 8GB (N95-4) selling for about $600 USD, the idea of spending nearly double the price tag is going to be a hard sell for Nokia this July. With a confirmed release date and a hefty price tag, the HTC Touch Diamond and HTC Touch Pro are looking even better at this point. Heck we would even consider taking the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 for the same price if we do not see a NAM N96 hitting US shores before year’s end.
