There are a handful of people out there who have not opted for a BES or Exchange Server to handle their push email on their Smartphone. Of the 10 or 20 of you out there who decided to skip a free MS Exchange Activesync-enabled account for your Palm or Windows Mobile Smartphone, Good Technology has been holding down the fort. Today Motorola’s Good Technology group has released an update, bringing the Good Software to version 6.0 along with a list of improvements. The big change with Good 6.0 is that secure corporate email is only part of the software now that it supports access to shared network resources over the same connection. The bottom line is that the Good Software eliminates the need for any VPN software to run on your smartphone when attempting to access your corporate email or network resources. While support for network resources has changed, the actual email portion of Good Software has remained nearly the same since version 5.0.

For the IT managers out there, this new version of Good allows you to use Web Applications to track and control the Good-equipped devices on your network and also improves the reporting capabilities. If your company’s network is in need of a secure platform to allow remote access of applications for your users then Good version 6.0 could definitely be worth a quick look.
