Honestly this took way too long, especially for our fellow torrent addicts with jailbroken iPhones. Having terabytes of downloaded movies and being forced to use 3rd party software to convert our DivX/Xvid files into mp4 videos is simply too much of a hassel. The alternative was to simply download torrents specific to video iPods and hope that the movie or tv show you wanted was actually available with enough seeds. The day of these worries is over my friends as our favorite Media Player for the PC (VLC Media Player) has been ported over to Apple’s iPhone. The catch is that you must be using a jailbroken iPhone to join in on the fun, but that is as simply as going to ziphone.org, connecting the iPhone to iTunes and clicking RUN.

In case you haven’t used VLC Media Player in a while, the fun does not stop with DivX support. MPEG, AVI, MP3, VCD, FLAC, OGG, WMA and WMV formats are also supported which should pretty much wrap up any multimedia file type on your computer within the past 5 years. In the event that you are using some off white codec for your movie viewing, VLC is always striving to add additional format support so sooner or later it will work if you have some patience.
