With some versions of Opera 9.5 already shipping on the HTC Touch Diamond, Opera has announced that the public beta for 9.5 will be available on July 15th. Opera explained that it is easier to make the browser work on one specific phone before releasing it to a larger variety of phones. The explanation for the long delay since Opera 9.5 was announced back in January is that 9.5 is based on the desktop version of 9.5 and they wanted to ensure that the mobile browser supports the latest and greatest standards of the Web.

While only HTC Touch Diamond owners are able to experience Opera 9.5, the public beta releasing on July 15th will be an entirely different build. This means that Touch Diamond owners will also have to download the public beta and we quite possibly will see added features and improvements.
