Rumor: BlackBerry KickStart becomes 8220, Seawolf becomes 8210

by Nick Marshall on June 27, 2008 · 0 comments

BlackBerry News is reporting that the upcoming BlackBerry Kickstart has finally been given an official model number, the 8220. While we originally believed the model number to be in the 9100 series, we are going to go with this rumor until a more convincing argument or additional proof surfaces. The second device in RIM’s upcoming late summer / Q4 release, the BlackBerry Seawolf, has been given the 8210 model number. While we were ready to see the 8000 series come to a close and move onto the BlackBerry Bold and Javelin, it looks like RIM has other plans in store.

Rumor: BlackBerry KickStart becomes 8220, Seawolf becomes 8210

The end of EDGE-only BlackBerry devices does not seem to be coming to a close thanks to the slow T-mobile 3G footprint, and flip phone only device launches. The final piece to this BlackBerry model number rumor game is the Javelin, which we now hear is the BlackBerry 8301 instead of the 9300 as we saw in the text file. It looks like there will be a lot to sort out in the BlackBerry lineup, but honestly is anyone thinking about the KickStart when they could have the Bold?
