Going once, going twice, going three times… Sold for $49.99. The latest BlackBerry Kickstart rumors have the device landing on T-mobile USA for as little as $49.99 on a 2 year contract. After previous rumors and subsequent confirmation from various inside sources hinting at the $49.99 price point, the almost official confirmation for the Kickstart pricing seems to be aimed at Palm’s Centro market share. With T-mobile customers being forced to buy an unlocked Palm Centro for $250, the $49.99 price tag of the BlackBerry Kickstart should provide a worthy alternative, although the disadvantage may lie in the monthly price plan.

Currently T-mobile customers are still taking advantage of the unlimited data for $4.99/month by configuring their devices to work with the MobileWeb add-on, but BlackBerry devices are not as lucky. Without the BIS add-on, the real advantages to having a BlackBerry are minimized since you will not be able to use the default web browser or email client and must resort to Opera Mobile and the Gmail application as a substitute. The bottom line is that you can expect to see the BlackBerry Kickstart hitting T-mobile retailers and online in early September for as little as $49.99 on a 2 year contract.
