Rumor: T-mobile 3G launch October 1st, nationwide…

by Nick Marshall

Die hard T-mobile fans and those of you believing in the power of EDGE data speeds have a treat coming October 1, 2008.  With half a dozen 3G enable handsets and 13,000 UMTS tower locations, the full nationwide rollout of T-mobile’s 3G network is coming in a little over 2 months.  Before we get ahead of ourselves on this one, remember as always this is could just be a rumor and New York City could still be one of the few locations with a 3G connection on October 1st.

Although the 3G rollout is being considered nationwide, it will be a rollout across the nation in the largest T-mobile markets (refer to list below). As far as device launches go, the Android-based handset is still planned for a Q4 2008 launch along with the first 3G flagship device, the Sony Ericsson Bella.  There are also talks of a 5.0 megapixel Samsung device being released in Q4 2008, but we wouldn’t be surprised if Palm released a Treo with a 3.0 megapixel camera before this happens.

Rumor: T-mobile 3G launch October 1st, nationwide...
