iPhone 3G Apple Store launch time 8am Local Time

by Nick Marshall on July 8th, 2008 at 1:53 am

While here in the US, At&t has announced that they will be launching the iPhone 3G at 8am local time, Apple Stores have remained tight lipped on the matter.  Whether you call an Apple Store or try chatting with a representative online, both situations end with the same puzzled response, “the iPhone 3G will release on Friday July 11th”.  Cnet claims that the iPhone 3G will also be launching at 8am this Friday, but in a later post on their iPhone Atlas website they explained that the Apple Store launch time is in complete question.  In fact, the final details for the iPhone 3G sales event will be determined at a conference call with Apple retail managers Monday, July 7th.

iPhone 3G Apple Store launch time

As it stands right now, the Apple Store is currently down and we have not been given any details from the conference call.  If we had it our way the iPhone 3G would launch at exactly 12:01 Friday July 11th that way we are done before work and only lining up at night when the burning California sun is out of the picture.  A midnight launch would also give Apple an additional 18 hours of sales over the original iPhone launch last June, which might be completely necessary with the in-store activation.

Update: Apple just sent out their usual email newsletter and the iPhone 3G will be going on sale at 8am Friday July 11th.  Whether you want to buy your iPhone 3G from your local At&t store or Apple Store, 8am is go time so get ready you have 3 days until launch.
