Japan’s iPhone 3G lines begin to form in Tokyo

article Nick Marshall

It looks like the worldwide iPhone 3G craze has started down in Harajuku, a Tokyo district in Japan.  With 26 ready and willing campers in front of the Softbank Shop, these future iPhone 3G owners represent the growing Apple Fan base in the land with the best Domburi and Sashimi.  As you might have expected the majority of these iPhone-addicts are students who already have many Apple products including MacBooks and iMacs.  If there ever was a question to the issue of how well the iPhone 3G would fare as a convergence device, it could be answered by the second person in line (also a Japanese student):

I could have access to my music, videos, photos, games and to the Internet rather than having to take my PC, my PSP, my Phone…”

We think that the comment on the iPhone replacing the PSP for a potential Japanese customer is huge in the future of iPhone gaming and maybe Neil Young’s move from EA Games was a solid choice.  In any case it looks like the iPhone 3G launch in Japan will not disappoint so fasten your seat belt as this week shoots into overdrive.
