While GSM Centro users have been able to take advantage of the Google Maps MyLocation feature for some time, CDMA users have been left in the dust. Today Sprint Centro users are able to join in on the fun thanks to the latest firmware update released on the Palm Website, version 1.07 for those of you keeping tabs. Beyond the MyLocation feature are also improvements to GMAIL IMAP compatibility, Exchange Activesync, Bluetooth, SprintTV, AOL Instant Messenger, Perferred Roaming Lists (PRL) OTA and the default camera shutter sound.

Keep in mind that the MyLocation feature allows positioning using WiFi signals and cellular towers since the Centro does not have a dedicated GPS receiver. Even so, the positioning is adequate and in some cases it can be spot on depending on your reception. If you have the Sprint Centro the 1.07 firmware update is well worth the 20 minute installation windows, but remember to backup your data prior to updating the device.
