T-mobile launches 3G in Vegas baby

We can already hear the chants at the crap table, ‘winner, winner, chicken dinner’.  T-mobile USA has officially launched 3G voice and data services in the Las Vegas area as part of its 20 market launch for 2008.  With a few available cell phones that take advantage of the faster speed Internet, Las Vegas customers who have stood by and watched every other US carrier launch their 3G network are finally in for a treat.

For those new to 3G data, T-mobile currently operates on the 1700MHz AWS spectrum for their UMTS network.  With data speeds in excess of 1 megabyte per second (sorry no HSDPA connectivity yet), the advantage over the slower EDGE network is tremendous and it might result in the launch of a 3G capable Android (Google phone) handset later this year (Q4 2008).  We will continue to keep you in the loop as more of the 20 scheduled markets go live with their 3G data and voice services.
