It might have only taken Apple a few days to sell one million iPhone 3Gs, but HTC’s Touch Diamond will reach it’s 1 millionth shipment in mid-August. The big difference between the 1 millionth shipment and Apple’s 1 millionth sale is simply that, a sale. While we are sure HTC CEO Peter Chou is proud of his company’s successful launch, the US is still making due without a carrier and news like this only fuels our envy. We know that Sprint has the HTC Touch Diamond preparing a launch sometime between now and October, but how well will the device sell once iPhone 3G inventories are fully replenished and the Samsung Instinct approaches a $99.99 price point?

We love HTC and hopefully we see the Touch Diamond and Touch Pro hit the US sooner rather than later. In the meantime, Peter Chou has vowed to hit 2 to 3 million Touch Diamond shipments before the end of the year. Let’s just hope some of those devices make it stateside so we can join in the fun and truly give Apple a run for its money.
