Verizon Wireless delivers iPhone-style Visual Voicemail

We heard the announcement, but today the Verizon Wireless Visual Voicemail service has gone live.  The first device to receive the iPhone-style love is the LG Voyager, but additional devices will add the capability in the coming months.  The service is currently listed at $2.99 per month, per line, plus airtime or MB charges and messaging fees, depending on the customer’s plan.

The Visual Voicemail service will work almost exactly like the iPhone, users have one-touch access to their messages with the ability to fast forward and delete directly from the phone’s menu.  The days of calling your voicemail box are coming to a close as customers can store up to 40 messages for 40 days: double the storage capacity and double the retention time of Verizon’s basic voicemail service.

Beyond the basic Visual Voicemail interface, Verizon LG Voyager owners will be able to create up to 10 greetings, up to 20 distribution lists and 50 distributions members to receive messages.  If this sounds like the winning ticket for you, simply access the Verizon Wireless home screen from your browser and click the link for Visual Voicemail to begin the download process.
