Rogers preps BlackBerry Bold launch August 19th

by Nick Marshall

The day is coming, next Tuesday August 19th to be exact and Rogers Canada is setting up shop for the most anticipated BlackBerry to hit North America.  With a blazing fast 624MHz processor powering a half-vga display (480 x 320 pixels), few cell phone addicts will be able to stop themselves from salivating to their heart’s content.  If you are a Rogers Canada subscriber your day is coming, t-minus 7 days and counting.

For a quick refresh course the BlackBerry Bold 9000 will be the first 3G HSDPA BlackBerry and it will be powered by the fastest processor and highest resolution screen we have seen from Research in Motion.  With a 2.0 megapixel camera and flash, the Bold 9000 has imaging capabilities on par with what we have seen from the BlackBerry Curve, but the biggest change is the OS (now with full HTML email and full HTML web browsing).  Another big addition to the BlackBerry Bold is that it will feature both GPS and Wi-Fi which until this time has generally been a crap shoot, leaving customers to choose between one or the other: now we have both.
