Brace yourself for the headlines, ‘browse and download on Canada’s fastest mobile network for $399 starting August 19th with the RIM BlackBerry Bold 9000′. The latest Rogers promotional brochure now shows the BlackBerry Bold 9000 for a jaw-dropping $399 price point on a 3 year contract. This is $100 more expensive than the 16GB iPhone 3G and quite honestly a deal breaker.

With RIM’s shift towards the mainstream consumer by including improved multimedia features, Wi-Fi and GPS in a single device, and 3G GSM connectivity, the $399.99 price tag is a shocker. After a series of delays and false promises for the Bold 9000 launch one would think that at least a similar price point to the iPhone 3G would be justified, but I guess we were wrong. Let’s cross our fingers and hope that some sort of promotional package comes through before the August 19th release date on Rogers Canada.
