When are we going to get functionality like the iphone? When are we going to get other applications that we can download to the instinct like the iphone? If Sprint is not going to keep up, please tell us so we can go get an iphone!!

To guy above. Stop being a loser. Go get your iphone and pay 150 a month cause it has to have there everything plan… The you can download your apps. Drop your calls have your phone freeze, and the internet just periodically just go out… Sprint has the best prices of nationwide companys, and they also have the fastest, most reliable three g network, and had just launched the 4g network… so who is not keeping up? att I believe…

ive had my instinct for about 3 1/2 months and i am on my 3rd phone so far from the screen frezzing … and i am really thinkin about just switching to an Iphone i am already paying about 150 anyways monthly with my instinct regardless..so if sprint isnt ready to step it up then i am stepping out…

GO GET THE IPHONE ALREADY
Sprint doesnt owe you anything. you know why the instinct isnt just like the iphone? because IT ISNT SUPPOSED TO BE. it has similar features, but it isnt supposed to be just like it.

and for all of you bitching about an app store OVER AND OVER again… either make the apps yourself and post em, or GO SUCK A DICK.

did you ever think that the instinct may not be a permanent thing? who knows, sprint might have another company put out the new touch screen phone and throw the instinct away.

plus apple didnt put the app store out until the 3g iphone came out anyway. they tried the 1st gen iphone out first to see if it would be worth their money. so calm the fuck down,.

Aaron,
Instinct was marketed by Sprint and by Samsung as being better than an iphone. I didn’t believe it would be, so I am not disappointed, but others, who did believe the promotional info have the right to complain without your vulgar criticism. I am sure that you are able to service your own, so, please do so. People were optimistic that they could get Sprint quality signal and excellent price; and, Apples innovation, albeit, unoriginal. Sadly, they wished for too much. And, they believed the hype. Aaron, do onto yourself what you suggest others do to themselves. Please. ps. a new model phone won’t fix the problem. Apple has integrated movies, music, games, the web, gps, computers, calenders, hundreds, if not thousands of apps and more. No, it is a world now and a phone won’t fix it.

I purchased an instinct because I like the touch screen and data capabilities. I knew when I got it that it was totally outclassed for media usage by the iPhone, but the price was right and I have a history with Sprint and have found their network and customer service to be superior to ATT. Some in my family have ATT and they complain about drop calls, but I rarely (can’t remember the last time) get dropped calls. I do hope that Sprint or other private parties develop interesting apps for the phone, but until then I will enjoy using a good quality phone that has good text, email, and web capabilities… the best? Maybe not… but more than functional for me. Thanks Samsung and Sprint for a great phone and a great network to use it with!

Well, I have the Instinct and I love it. There are many instinct forums that teach you how to unlock the full potential of your phone. My download speed is much faster because I have changed my incoming packets from 7 to 20 however, to do so you must figure out how to debugg your phone and have your unlock code ready. This code is only provided by sprint techs. The process is too detailed for me to try and explain to you plus I would probably misguide you. If your interested in possibly trying new things with your instinct then I suggest you google “Samsung Instinct Apps”. Read the forum topics and follow their directions. You can’t just ask sprint how to debugg your phone because they obviously won’t tell you nor will they give you the unlock code. However, there is a way around it by asking a certain way. Read the forums and find out. I am no way trying to promote any forums or trying to convince you readers that the instinct is better than the iphone. I’m just trying to give you some insight in how to unleash your phone’s true potential so you can enjoy your phone more.

I have downloaded plenty of free games, applications and even features similar to that of an Iphone. I’m happy with the instinct and the one of the reasons that convinced me to get it is simple…..you can’t insure an Iphone. The piece of mind of not having to worry about breaking or losing my phone is priceless.

BTW: Charlie, nicely said……..I can’t stand people who just don’t have any respect for the opinions of others.

Good luck guys!

Thomas is a moron and completely missed the point of the first post. We Instinct owners want more apps. That’s it. We were pitched an “iPhone Killer”, and got a device that has had little to no support for going on a year soon. I want AIM, Flickr, Restaurants, etc. applications for my phone, and it hasn’t been delivered.

Samsung/Sprint… the only good app that works on the Instinct is Pandora. Step the game up already. Programs that initially came on the phone do not count as new apps or updates.

I have the Katana DLX and am thinking of getting the instinct. I don’t want to leave Sprint, as I have had NO problems with the service or support. BUT with that said I want a phone ’similar’ to the iphone. Want it to find restaurants, gps, text, email….of of course be used as a phone.. looking for ‘why I should buy this phone?’ Opinions. Just honest opinions on why to buy. What to look for and what to know would also be helpful.

I love my Instinct. I never had any problems with it. It has everything i need. I dont need an app store like the iPhone or nothing like the iPhone. Im happy the way the phone is right now. The only change i want to see on the Instinct is a way to change the Theme.

I love the instinct. ive had it since it came out. The iphone is more for “fun” cause of the apps it can do, but the instinct is more for professional use. Alma, instinct has all that your looking for. See, the thing between iphone and instinct is that iphone has more years under its belt so of course itll be better but instinct has only been out atleast a year and it poses a threat to the iphone. If you want apps and thats all you care about then seriously drop sprint and go with att. I love sprint. Im 19 and ive had them for 3 years. Not once have i had problems with them. Listen to this, YOU GET TWO BATTERIES WITH THE INSTINCT. Right there kicks iphones lazy ass of one battery that you cant take out…….

For all you I phone lover, sprints new palm pre will blow it away. It comes out in the first half of the year. So go ahead and jump abourd the sprint team because the only reason they got the rights to the phone is because there reliable 3g network that the pre will run on.

i have been with sprint for 10 years and love the customer service.

however… the instinct is not working well. i am sad bc i don’t want to leave sprint but others are right, if sprint can’t keep up its time to leave. i hate how we don’t have shazam!! plus. my screen is freezing about five times a day and i am having to take the battery out over and over.

i do like the direct gps and push and speak option but is it enough… ?

To the guy that said Sprint doesn’t owe us anything. Actually that’s bullshit. Sprint does owe each and every Instinct owner something. APPS! They promised to have all these apps when the phone was launched and they haven’t held up to their promises. Sprint, get with the program, develop the apps you promised us!

I worked for Sprint when the Instinct was released. Sprints instinct promotions clearly stated that this phone kills the Iphone in power, price, and applications. As an instinct owner, the phone is ok. The instinct has many flaws which are too numerous to mention. The best thing about it is the GPS navigation. The camera has no digital zoom and no flash. many customers complained about that. The big problem customers have been bitching about is apps. Sprint promised apps and have not delivered and that’s fact. Without being able to get apps you just have a dumbed down iphone. Before i quit sprint, they were talking about dropping support for the instinct. Whether that’s fact or BS is uncertain. Sprint has also been working with samsung on pushing apps to the public. I know that’s what people want and u have to understand. THEY DON’T GIVE A SHIT. We are consumers I’ve heard a few cell companies we dealt with say and i quote “We don’t have to care. Consumers change their minds too often about their cell plans to care.” In conclusion. Sprint doesn’t owe you shit. Samsung does. Samsung is the company that releases updates via 3rd party affiliates and the company that tells sprint what kind of apps they will support. Sprint is only a “follower company” and a “leader company” Sprint only does what they are told to do by the cell phone manufactorers

The one thing that SPRINT owes us is a plan that makes sense. I have the SE plan for $99 a month, yet I found that anyone can get a BOOST plan for unlimited everything at $50…NO CONTRACT NO TIES.. plus their taxes are only a true 7%, whereas by the time my taxes are added in, I am at nearly $120pm what is up with that?

its all reletive people complain no matter what. you have a cell that must mean you have a pillow under your head at night and a roof over your head right? your blessed stop being petty learn to appreciate the things you have and focus on the good and stop with so much negitivity. i have the instinct s30 and i dont have any complaints. it meets what i need it to do and more. so it has a few flaws but so what?! cell phones get outdated every few months as technology gets better. sprint nor samsung “owe” none of you anything you didnt put any work in on anything. they only “owe” their employees a paycheck at the end of the pay period and thats it the palm prem is out and is very similar to the iphone and guess what? that phone will too be olod and pass away with its follower the palm pre 2 or whatever. people will even complain about that one as well! bottom line if you cant design, produce, manufacture and distribute a better phone the you have no room to talk. and if you love the iphone so much then buy one and take your foot out of your mouths

Ok Well i had to get a new phone and got the Instinct. I thought it was pretty cool at first till I tried the media manager that’s supposed to work like itunes. Well it wouldn’t work for the first 2 instincts I had. Then out of nowhere it worked with my third one. So i figured great it works. Well the phone drops calls like all others but that’s to be expected. The internet sucks on it. All it does is take u to more google pages and not actual web sites. the nav takes u to the wrong addresses, and texts take forever to send or receive if it’s a picture. Sprint and Samsung owe us what they promise Samsung cuz they said they would do it and Sprint because they backed up what Samsung said. I’ve been through about 8 phones. 1 because it got stolen. I still like the phone just wish they would actually do what they say and work out at least most of the bugs. As far as people that want an iphone. Well i would to if i didn’t have to pay so much for one and leave my service. So i’ll stick with the instinct till i can get an unlocked iphone or sprint delivers.

The instinct is a good phone, I think.
A few years back I had a Sanyo PM-8200 or something like that.
Other than that, this is my favorite phone i’ve owned.

I did want to go get an iPhone 3GS, but I changed my mind for one main reason; AT&T doesn’t offer insurance for them. Sprint’s insurance plan has never screwed me over. I had the LG Muziq for a while, and it broke quite a few times; But they never gave me a problem with replacing it. I’d turn it in and have a reconditioned one within a half hour. They also replaced a Palm Treo that I didn’t even buy from them, because it broke a while after I got it off of craigslist. And one of my instincts lost its 3-G Capability and I got a replacement for that too.

I’m willing to settle for a lack of application support in exchange for this kind of customer service.

Also, on another note, I heard the HTC Hero might be coming to Sprint. If so, that will be my next phone. :D

The Instinct is a great phone, but you can’t blame people for being upset that they didn’t get what they paid for. We were promised a phone with more Apps, an IPhone killer. ATT and eevn T-mobile phones have more Apps than the Instinct. The Instinct may be ahead in all other categories, but for the person who Chose the phone because of the promise of more apps. this has to be frustrating.

Nick Marshall September 9, 2009 at 11:05 pm

I completely agree with you. Sprint bit off more than they could chew when they were trying to push the Samsung Instinct but I guess we can’t blame them. It was a heavy feat trying to go head to head with a marketing campaign designed to bash the iPhone. In the end app development on the Instinct became non-existent for the most part and Sprint will make up for it with the release of the HTC Hero, Android will save the day.

On Feb 27, Gary mentioned that he has found a way to change incoming packets from 7 to 20, thus increasing the download speed of the browser for the INSTINCT; I have the phone code but am unable to locate any info regarding changing the speed of the incoming packets; would you forward info if you have still have it.
Thanks in anticipation. Email address is: mducheiney@gmail.com
