iPhone 3G 2009 Sales Forcecast Summary

by Nick Marshall on August 25, 2008

Forecasting is a guessing game, but over the course of the past week some of the best have taken a stab at the unpredictable iPhone.  With over 1 million units sold just 3 days after launch it has been nearly impossible to predict future sales but the consensus from most analysts is that Apple will sell 11 million units during 2008.  During 2009 this number is expected to jump to 25 million units.

While these number are very impressive, other analysts have gone with even more aggressive sales forecasts.  Analyst Gene Munster from Piper Jaffray has predicted Apple will sell 13 million units in 2008 and another 45 million units in 2009.  While forecasts are nothing more than educated guesses, Apple has shed some light on their production plans for the next 12 months.  Over these next 12 months, Cupertino’s camp plans to produce between 40 and 45 million iPhones and they expect to sell close to 52% of production.

If you are curious how many iPhones Apple is producing per day, a spokesperson from Apple said that they produce 150,000 units per day. (365 X 150,000 = 54,750,000 per year)
