Verizon Wireless BlackBerry Storm/Thunder shipping mid-November

article Nick Marshall

It looks like BGR has got his hands on some very interesting news for those of you following the BlackBerry Thunder, BlackBerry Storm on Verizon Wireless.  According to BGR, the device just went into ‘technical acceptance at Verizon Wireless which usually takes 3-4 weeks and there an internal delay of an additional 3-4 weeks.  Factoring in the technical acceptance phase and the internal delay, this puts the BlackBerry Storm launch in mid-November assuming no additional delays.  Here’s the official word from BGR,

it just went into technical acceptance at Verizon which usually takes around 3-4 weeks, and the device has been delayed internally by around 3-4 weeks while they work out the kinks (read: buggy and unresponsive) and polish it up. That puts us around a mid-November launch on Verizon. We’ve double confirmed that information, so it should be pretty accurate. Additionally, we heard from someone else that they’ve increased the marketing budget for the BlackBerry Storm just to give AT&T a little kick in the nuts for delaying the Bold so much.

It looks like the At&t / Verizon Wireless battle will continue as At&t’s BlackBerry Bold continues to be delayed.  In the meantime, join in with the rest of us anxiously anticipating the BlackBerry Storm launch.

For those of you keeping track we have the HTC Touch Diamond launching mid-September for Sprint, the HTC Touch Pro following mid-October for Sprint, the Nokia N96 just released for Europe, the BlackBerry Bold launching in October for At&t and the HTC Dream for T-mobile coming in October.  If one thing is for certain there are not shortages when it comes to high-end device launches in Q4 2008, the delays are what’s driving us nuts.
