EA’s Spore Origins coming to the iPhone this month

by Nick Marshall

Electronic Arts is preparing the launch of Spore Origins for the iPhone and iPod Touch later this month.  With the full version of the game going on sale Sunday in North America, players will get to design their own creatures before beginning on an evolutionary quest through the game’s levels.  The good news is that back at the E3 game conference, EA said that it would be building a number of games that would take advantage of the iPhone’s accelerometer and Wi-Fi capabilities.  What we would really like to see is some network gaming and not simply high score leaderboards, but Spore Origins is a start.

For those looking to see more of EA’s traditional games make their way to the iPhone and iPod Touch, EA Mobile said that it has 9 other games in development including Yahtzee Adventure, EA Mini Golf, Monopoly: Here and Now (World Edition), SimCity and The Sims 3.  If the iPod Touch and iPhone are not your forte, EA also announced that it will be bringing Spore Origins to other non-Apple mobile devices as well.
