Despite being the first T-mobile device to advertise their 3G network, the Sony Ericsson TM506 Amber does not mention 3G capabilities in the Overview, Features or Services section on T-mobile’s website. The TM506 will join several other T-mobile 3G capable devices that have slowly been released by the carrier over the past year. Starting today you can pickup the 2.0 megapixel, Stereo Bluetooth, Instant Messaging capable TM506 in Amber for $159.99 no contract. Other notable features include a Music Player, M2 Memory Stick slot and International capabilities.

The Sony Ericsson TM506 currently has a $49.00 discount when purchased online with a 2 year contract extension even if you are not eligible for an upgrade so today might be the time to buy. At $159.99 sans contract we can’t help but think of holding out on the 2 year upgrade price to save it for the Google Phone (HTC Dream) releasing on T-mobile in October.
