It appears that some website could patch the Nokia E71 GPS feature to a standalone GPS device. The key thing is you don't have to pay for data plan to use GPS. Can I connect to internet using the wifi capability without a data plan?
I'm looking forward to hear from experience users from this forum.

Hi I really can't decide the nokia and the blackberry. I prefer the styling of the nokia however I need something thats going to be somewhat future proof as it will probably need to last me 18 months. Help please.

Just an FYI, both phones have A-GPS. the A stands for Assisted, meaning it uses a data connection (usually from the cell towers) to quickly download ephemeris information that would otherwise take much longer through regular gps signals.

The E71 is using Nokia Maps by default... you could install Google Maps, but that is not exactly real-time navigation quality directions. At&t Navigator with the BlackBerry Bold would be the better choice for a simple solution.

Nokia Maps 2.0 is very robust and does offer a 3 dimensional view, but the simplicity of using At&t's pre-packaged software might be more suitable.
