Rumor: Verizon Wireless Offers No Contract Options September 21st

by Nick Marshall

If you can live in a world without phone subsidies and hate the idea of early termination fees (ETF), things might become a little brighter for your future with Verizon Wireless.  According rumors, Verizon will be making the switch to join every other major carrier in the US by offering a contract-less option starting September 21st.  With carriers heavily discounting phones with contracts, the option to lose the contract definitely has a price as well as the possibility of discounts on future upgrades, but cell freedom is priceless.

One other point of interest is that if Verizon makes good on this rumor, it will be interesting to see if your phone purchased at full retail will be unlocked.  This could be a major step in working towards those promises by Sprint and Verizon to activate unlocked CDMA phones.
