Verizon Wireless BlackBerry Storm Launch Details

Comments

by Nick Marshall on September 18, 2008

With the big announcement already being felt across Verizon Wireless retailers, the plans have been layed out for Big Red’s attack at the world of touchscreens.  Research in Motion, RIM, and Verizon Wireless are preparing to take the world by ‘Storm’ starting with Direct Mailers, Internal Emails, Business Customer Emails and finally on October 1st the Consumer Email.  If you have signed up over at www.verizonwireless.com/storm to be notified of the BlackBerry Storm availability, expect to have an email on September 22nd if you are a business customer and October 1st for everyone else.

Also included in the BlackBerry Storm Pre-Launch details are the criteria for the ‘target customer’.  As usual, the success of Verizon has been their ability to keep customers coming back for more and that has shifted the focus of their Storm attack towards customers ‘with propensity to churn, port-out, or are on an account that has had a line port in the last 24 months’.  It looks like those of you who have been eying that iPhone over at At&t might have your shot at some bargaining for the BlackBerry Storm.

As we’ve expected, the November launch date is still a go and the mention of 11/01/08 throughout the document inclines us to believe sooner rather than later.  If you plan on picking up the BlackBerry Storm on VZW during the first week of November, keep in mind that a data plan will be required and reps will be pushing the $29.99 Unlimited BlackBerry Email & Web plan with full force.
