Just in time for this holiday shopping season, Apple has gotten a bit wiser with their iPhone 3G sales and enabled Online Ordering. Unfortunately it is not the traditional at-home activation method we learned to love (and hate) used on the original iPhone, but instead it is a two part method. The first step involves entering your personal information and billing details in order to pass the credit check. Once approved you will be given the choice of the black 8GB and black or white 16GB models along with the different rate plans. After selecting your plan and device of choice you simply pick your closest Apple Retail Store and you go into the store to complete the purchase.

As an added bonus for completing the online purchase you will be greeted by an Apple Specialist who will help you personalize your new iPhone 3G, make calls, browse the web, receive email, and more. With Best Buy charging an arm and a leg to setup email on a phone through their Best Buy Mobile service, the Apple Store delivers the same services free.
