A few spy photos have hit the Internet this morning, compliments of cellphonesail, and this time the rumored device is codenamed ‘Kate’ by Sony Ericsson. ‘Kate’ is a 5 megapixel slider, packed with a Xenon flash, Auto focus and a Smile Shutter, very similar to the current C902 Cybershot, but with updated software. According to the rumors, ‘Kate’ will run Java Platform 9.4 which is scheduled to run on the upcoming SE C905. One interesting piece of information we gathered is that ‘Kate’ will not feature a front-facing camera and it will also lack GPS.

Both of these features have become pretty standard in the GSM realm, but it looks like Sony Ericsson is aiming at a different audience with this release. An official announcement is expected this October and a release date should go down before the end of the year if the device makes it into production. With the recent device slashing of Sony Ericsson prototypes, it is hard to tell if any device will make it to the retail chain.
