Google looking into iPhone-Specific Ads

by Nick Marshall

The T-mobile G1 might be launching in less than 2 weeks, but this is not stopping Google from exploring additional ad revenue campaigns with the iPhone in mind.  According to AdWeek, Google has been meeting with ad agencies to show off different ways to integrate advertising into searches conducted on the iPhone.  The idea is to give ad agencies the opportunity to create iPhone-specific ads that might draw more interest than ads that simply copy desktop browsing ads.  As an example, companies could place ads that would allow users to click to call rather than simply bringing up a company’s website.  Although there are options to run mobile-specific ad campaigns for WAP sites, this would be the first time Google allowed advertisers the ability to make messages specific for mobile phones.
