Nextel has the i365 and Verizon has the G’zOne, but Sonim’s XP3 is redefining what it means to be ‘the world’s toughest phone’. The company’s European phones have been dropped from a 13-story building and shot with guns, but this is only a taste of what the XP3 can withstand. The XP3 is the upcoming device from California-based Sonim, which has never released a phone in the U.S. up until now.
The XP3 can run at temperatures down to -40 degrees and survive 9-foot drops at will. It is impervious to almost anything, including “micro-particles” and it has 2.5 days of talk time and 2 months of stand-by mode. The U.S. version will feature quadband EDGE/GSM, GPS, Bluetooth and a flashlight mode. While the XP3 is not a smartphone, it will come pre-installed with Opera Mini for web browsing and it will offer a 3.0 megapixel camera which combined with GPS will deliver some nice geotagging capabilities.
The icing on the cake for the Sonim XP3 is the 3-year, no questions asked guarantee. If you find a way to break the device at anytime during the first three years of ownership, you will get a new XP3, no questions asked.

This phone sounds super cool and exactly what i need. I watched some of their videos at http://www.toughestphone.com and they were ridiculously tight. Can’t wait for one of these babies.
